The British magazine The Economist names Uzbekistan the country of the year 2019.

I had heard a few stories about the complexity of getting out of Uzbekistan. In addition to a full search, the slightest offense can put you in jail. And since I have to go through customs with at least three different immigration offenses, I cross my fingers and practice my best smile.

After more than three weeks of driving in Uzbekistan, here are some of my great encounters and thoughts on the country.

See, I normally try to be positive when I write. I have the immense chance to live this adventure of a lifetime, this dream that I have been preparing for years. But I don't want to lie to you, sometimes it's hard and I wonder what I'm doing.

Thanks to the train, I avoided the part completely to the west of Uzbekistan. I take the opportunity to make a detour to rub my feet and sleep in a luxury gas station.

After my crossing of the Kazakh desert, I land at Beïneou, last town before the Uzbek border. The desert continues across the border, and promises to be even worse than what I just went through. I have to decide if I continue by bike or if I take the train.

While waiting for visas, I spend a week in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. During this forced but welcome break, I take the opportunity to visit the city ... and its embassies!
