The most beautiful bike path in Japan

A must stop for any cyclist traveling through the land of the rising sun: the famous and fantastic Shimanami-kaido cycle path.

Connecting the large islands of Shikoku and Honshu (the main island of Japan) by 8 bridges, the track also passes through 6 smaller islands. On each of them, the path is obvious. It follows a blue line on the ground. Everything is well indicated, even in Latin letters. You can stop at several places to sleep, eat, and even wash.

And the track is clearly popular. During my crossing of some 80 km, I met a lot of Japanese, but also a few cyclo-travelers and tourists who had made the detour to come and rent bikes for a few days.

I highly recommend going this way if you are in Japan during a season hot enough to ride. It's a great way to see another side of this wonderful country. In addition to the video, you will find a few links below containing more information on the cycle path.
