The finish line

With almost 2 km on the clock in my last month of pedaling, it's almost a final sprint for the finish line. And it's quite a shock after this one!

The end of the road is quick. I am the west coast in Malaysia. The asphalt is good, it's flat, and I can't wait to get there. I put on distances of 100 to 120 km on a daily basis.

Entrance to Kuala Lumpur

The entry into town is intense. In the city, no boulevard or avenue, only interchanges and highways. I walk on a non-existent shoulder and there are exits everywhere I have to avoid the cars entering and exiting. With Istanbul and Hanoi, it is in my top 3 of the most difficult cities to access by bike.

Despite the heavy traffic and the fact that I am riding my bike on the highway during rush hour, people are still very courteous. Only one person honks, but otherwise people hunker down and pay attention to me.

I only have about fifteen kilometers to do on my last day to arrive at the hotel set as a meeting point with my future boss. He is waiting for me there with his children and his wife, behind a real finish line made of a red ribbon!

Luxury

To celebrate the end of the course, I am invited to stop by the restaurant of the 5-star hotel. They bring us a bottle of champagne. I feel completely offbeat comparing the champagne and my cake in this rich setting, while I'm still dressed in cycling clothes that I haven't washed for ten days!

Needless to say, the employees don't pay me so much attention!

Then, I settle into the luxurious room that has been reserved for me while I find an apartment. My boss texts me in the afternoon.

- Is it ok?
- Uh yes put some! I have a mattress, hot water and there are no cockroaches in the room!

Installation

As I had never planned to stop cycling in Malaysia, I have no work clothes, nor anything for my apartment (I will sleep in my sleeping bag for two weeks!). So I spend some time remaking my wardrobe before starting my office life again.

So here I am again in a law and human resources position, but this time on the other side of the world. I will talk about this at the Radio-Canada TV, as well as on the radio toronto et Montreal.

As you know, this arrival took place a few months ago ... time flies at breakneck speed! Since then, I have already started to write a book about my journey last year. I hope to move to Canada in the next year to present it to you.

In the meantime, I will continue to write you a few articles on this blog when I can. You will have already noticed that there are fewer updates. Obviously, they follow the number of adventures, which are also less numerous, and I am now working a lot on this famous book project.

Until then, do not hesitate to continue contacting me for your bicycle travel plans or if you are passing through Kuala Lumpur.
